Communication with God. Did you know that Eternal Life is not something that begins after death? John 17:3 says that Eternal Life (from the mouth of Jesus) is knowing God and Jesus through the power of the Holy Spirit in an intimate way. Monotor you communication with God and ascertain whether it is primarily you talking to God or if it is truly two way communication. Invest interactive time in Bible study to hear God speaking to you and in prayer to allow yourself the opportunity to speak to God. Also - Listen. Quietly ask God to speak to your heart. We are instructed to love the Lord our God with all our heart, soul and strength in both the Old and New Testaments. Books on Prayer by EM Bounds, Too Busy Not to Pray by Bill Hybels, On Earth As It Is in Heaven - How the Lord's Prayer Teaches Us to Pray by Warren W. Wiersbe. Read a Psalm a Day and incorporate it into a prayer.
